GenieACS + USP (TR-369) – Gauging Interest in a Custom Extension

Just wanted to sow the seed and see if there would be any interest in something I’ve been working on.

I’ve built a custom extension for GenieACS that adds support for USP / TR-369 devices alongside the existing TR-069 functionality.

The idea is to keep GenieACS as the main management platform, while adding support for newer USP-enabled CPEs rather than having to run a completely separate management platform.

At the moment I’ve got the core integration working, including linking USP devices back into GenieACS so they can still be viewed and managed through the existing platform.

Some of the areas I’ve been working on include:

  • USP / TR-369 device discovery and management

  • Integration with the existing GenieACS device UI

  • USP parameter browsing and editing

  • Running USP operations / commands against devices

  • Keeping compatibility with existing GenieACS API integrations

  • Provisioning and automation support

  • Firmware management

  • Support for both native and Docker GenieACS installations

  • Automated installation and configuration

  • Backups before making any GenieACS, MongoDB or UI changes

One of the main goals is to allow an ISP to manage existing TR-069 devices and newer TR-369 devices from the same GenieACS environment.

The intention isn’t to replace GenieACS.

It’s more about extending it so existing GenieACS users can start supporting USP without having to migrate their entire device management platform.

I’m mainly posting this to gauge interest at this stage.

Is this something other GenieACS users, ISPs or network operators would be interested in using?

If there is enough interest, I may look at packaging it properly so it can be installed onto existing GenieACS deployments.

I’d also be really interested to hear what people would want from something like this, especially anyone already starting to deploy USP / TR-369 capable routers.
