V1.2 Clarifying license conditions

Seeking clarification of how to ensure compliance with license conditions. If my project is successful I may be deploying a copy of GenieACS on a 3rd-party’s server.

The only modifications I anticipate are to the logo and style sheet but none to the underlying source code.

a) Which license applies?

The README file says:

Copyright 2013-2019 GenieACS Inc. GenieACS is released under the AGPLv3 license terms.

But the license file included with 1.2 is:

GNU AFFERO GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE
Version 3, 19 November 2007

Unless adivsed otherwise by the “GenieACS Inc”, I will assume from here forward that it is the GNU Affero GPL that applies to GenieACS v1.2.

b) Meeting the conditions of Section 5. Conveying Modified Source Versions.

Are all the conditions of this section satisfied by including an incremental change notice in an updated README file?

It’s the GNU AGPLv3. There’s no “AGPLv3” other than the one published by GNU but I should probably update the readme file to avoid ambiguity.

Software licensing is hard. I recommend consulting with a lawyer. From my limited understanding of the license, the full source of your modified version must be provided to the user.

Thank you, understood.
