Invalid Session

What does it mean when we have invalid session error in the CWMP log file:

[ERROR] 10.249.24.225: Invalid session

Any idea? This is happening a lot when a certain refresh provision is running and then the CWMP seems like stopping because periodic updates are not received anymore.

Any idea?? I am still getting the same error

The “Invalid session” error occurs when either the CPE sends back a session ID different from the one it should, or the CPE is replying with the correct session ID, but its response time is greater than the session timeout value.

Thanks for the reply. This is happening with a certain CPE model. The parameters are being refreshed correctly although I am getting the Session Invalid error. The main problem is that after a while the whole CWMP process freezes and periodic informs are not received anymore by the CWMP (log file stops being incremented) and all the devices appear offline although they are all online.

Is this CWMP behavior due to the many “session invalid” errors? How can I overcome this and keep CWMP working?

Hello,

What I’m seeing is that ACS is not sending Cookie in reply :frowning: in the comment below you can se that:

  1. CPE sends inform
  2. ACS replys with infrom response with cookie
  3. CPE reply with with cookie and content length 0
  4. ACS replys with GPV and no cookie
  5. CPE replys with result and cookie
  6. ACS replys with GPV and no cookie
  7. CPE replys with result and cookie
  8. ACS replys with no content and no cookie

This kind of behaviour will/might/should always result in invalid session. It is not vendor related. I also have a .pcap trace file recorded directly on the ACS server which I can share.
